5 Easy Steps To Building A Website
So you wanna build websites, huh?
Think it’ll be easy and you can make bank doing it?
Well, you can if you know what you’re doing.
Today I’ll walk you through how I build my sites.
Since I’m partial to Bluehost and WordPress, I’ll start with those. Otherwise you can search for others.
Step 1 – Choose a hosting service.
Now (like I stated earlier) I’m a fan of Bluehost, but there are others… like Go Daddy, Dream Host, 1&1, InMotion, etc. They’re all pretty much similar in price and what they can and cannot do. So choose the one that best fits your needs.
But, this is your starting point… other than having a domain name in mind. Which I’ll cover in the next step.
Step 2 – Choose your domain name
Something unique, not to long, specific to you and your business but easy for people to remember. There are so many ending variations, like .com, .net, .ca, .org, .edu, etc. but .com is by far the most popular. Again, up to you and what you prefer.
Step 3 – Choose your content management system (CMS)
Again, I personally use WordPress. It’s the most widely used and has the most widgets and themes to choose from. But there are others, like, Drupal, Joomla, Magenta, Concrete5, etc. Check em out and choose the one that best fits your needs.
Step 4 – Choose your theme
Now, depending on which CMS you chose from earlier will dictate which theme and widgets you’ll be able to choose for your site.
Some are free and some cost money, so choose wisely.
Step 5 – Input your information
Once you have your basic set up done, you can enter your info, pics and design choices.
And that’s it… for a basic website setup. If you’re looking for more advanced knowledge, get on my list and you’ll be in the know about where, on each page, your customers eyes go first. I’ll also show you how to add html to posts and pages as well as how to install and activate plugins for your site.
